American universities are accepting more minorities than ever. Graduating them is another matter.

I regularly mentor doctoral students in both education and business who are in some way working to research and then diminish the "achievement gap" between white and minority American populations. Ridicule and scorn would certainly add to that - making it so easy for an aspiring minority student to legitimately say, "Who needs this?"

Are there authors you would suggest the my students read?
Who do you see as leaders in the discussion towards building diverse educational practice. Being a minority in Ireland (a Yank) I am aware that difference makes us hypersensitive to many small comments. My Irish friends would be horrified if they knew how I interpret some of the things that happen - then years later I find I interpret them differently.

As the international environment becomes less and less nationalistic these are issues faced everywhere.
