Obtaining Elluminate recordings for off-line playback

I don't know about anyone else, but I have had a really tough time finding the the full elluminate recordings of past interviews with such people as JT Gatto. I'm talkiin g about the sound and slides together.

I don't mean the links on the Learn Central page which take you to Elluminate and then the java starts. I mean versions of the event such as what were given after the Reform Symposium, so those of us on the other side of the Digital Divide can download and listen/watch the full session (not just an mp3) while disconnected from the net.

Have I got this completely wrong?? Are there full offline versions (sound and slides together) available for download?

Help??
Thanks,
W

That's a darn good idea. I've never thought about it. There is a way for me to publish, and the post to a server, a stand-along (non-streaming) java file you could play while offline. I don't know how much call there is for this, but if you want to tell me which sessions you'd like to have this for, I'll make sure you can get them.

Cheers,

Steve
Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for responding.

I am a real fan of the elluminate sessions and have been since I was working on my M.Ed. But, the problem is that I spend most of my time now at work and on vacation in the developing world where connectivity is very poor except for mobile networks. Thus, the time I have with broadband needs to be used for downloading as much as possible to see me through the months without it.

I'm afraid I have quite a shopping list of sessions I'd like to have for offline listening/viewing. I've given a partial list here so any from this list would be great. Maybe we can have a poll in Twitter about having this option ?

OK, I have an idea. Elluminate has a program that will created an "unplugged" version of the recordings you want. It's called Publish! You can get a free 30-day trial at http://www.elluminate.com/trial/request-publish-trial-key.go. You should be able to convert as many of these as you like in that time. Then I'll be thinking about how to do this more regularly so by the time you are done with them we can have another solution!

Hows that? :)
Fabulous! That is a great help, I'll get started on that right now!

Thanks again Steve!

Trying this now for some of the Global Education Conference sessions. I want to make mp3s for my commute. Did I miss an RSS feed where they all ready exist or does anyone want to split up the sessions to get this done more quickly?

Steve - do we have permission to convert and share?

Thanks,
Clint
They are public so go for it! :)

If you're using Publish to convert them, you have to get the links for each session. A quick list of all the session recordings is at http://www.globaleducationconference.com/recordings.html, but you do have to first click on each link to get to the recording "table" for that session.

Cheers,

Steve

"The depth of your observations from last night is still resonating with me. I'm trying to think of another interview I've given where the questioner understood the material so well that he/she so regularly (and fluidly) went into new intellectual territory. I can't think of any. Pretty amazing. Thank you."
