Charting the Course of Teaching and Learning in a Networked World
Hello!
I'm teaching an after-school civics class in Alexandria, Virginia for students age 11-13, and I'm looking for at least one teacher outside the United States that would be interested in connecting our classrooms though online discussion over the next month. This would be similar to a pen pal program but rather than one student assigned to one student, all students will be able to talk to each other.
The discussions would require about one hour of class time around July 27 and around August 20, 2011. The discussions would happen in English.
The topic of the discussion will be the fun videos inspired by the US State Department's "What is Democracy" video contest. The purpose would be to help the students learn about different perspectives about different types of government.
Please send me a message if you are interested in this project or ask me a question below. I look forward to experimenting with you!

Permalink Reply by Lucas Cioffi on November 5, 2011 at 10:11am Hi Steve, yes this opportunity will stay open. Your students can participate in that conversation titled "What is Democracy?" or we can find another topic that works for you. We work pro bono in grades 6-12. Teachers often create online conversations for their students, and I'm particularly interested in getting a conversation going (on any topic) between students of different schools.
If you're interested, please email me at lucas@athenabridge.org
