Hi Paddy,

I lead a volunteer-based tutor/mentor strategy in Chicago aimed at connecting inner city youth with adult volunteers who serve as tutors/mentors. The Cabrini Connections program is a single site working with 70 teens while the Tutor/Mentor Connection maintains a database of tutor/mentor program locations throughout the city, and an extensive library of information intended to support the involvement of volunteers and donors as well as youth and families. We use maps to help people focus on all of the places where these programs are needed and to visualize a long-term strategy aimed at helping kids entering school today to be starting jobs and careers by age 25.

We share these resources so others can use them in their own communities, and to build collective actions that build a more consistent flow of resources to support the distribution of these programs in many places.

I hope you'll take a look. Let me know if you have questions.

Reviews

"The depth of your observations from last night is still resonating with me. I'm trying to think of another interview I've given where the questioner understood the material so well that he/she so regularly (and fluidly) went into new intellectual territory. I can't think of any. Pretty amazing. Thank you."
