An Evolution of Learning: Have the Tools of Science Superceded "Hands-On" Exploration and Education?

"Most people don't use or need much math..." REALLY?... and who promoted this "reality?
When I saw this statement in a recent discussion... on another education forum on a different site, I went cold.
My feeling is that such a statement is only true if you create a situation where people are taught to believe it.....
It seems to me that this is one of those self-fulfilling prophesies…
