The Future of Education

Charting the Course of Teaching and Learning in a Networked World

RSID's (Rhode Island School Of Design) participation in promoting STEAM, is only part of a greater groundswell of the appreciation of a balanced, project based learning platform.

Art and science ALSO encompasses the humanities. I have spoken to this in terms of the process of creating animation (Animating STEM) regarding the idea of knowledge being relayed through story AND the subtext of metaphor. When one sees the multiple levels of learning, complementing and resonating between subjects, the entirety of learning or bigger picture becomes apparent.

The idea of "genius" thinking is in reality that a person has seen a concept in one area and due to to seeing the "pattern" of concepts, has applied it in other areas.

Perhaps (hopefully) we are indeed heading into a renaissance of holistic learning, where we are creating and participating in a coherency of comprehension, crucial to surfing the compression of change.

"The depth of your observations from last night is still resonating with me. I'm trying to think of another interview I've given where the questioner understood the material so well that he/she so regularly (and fluidly) went into new intellectual territory. I can't think of any. Pretty amazing. Thank you."
