As social media and Web 2.0 tools become more and more prevalent, educators should take notice and advantage of the benefits these tools have to offer. In this session, administrators and teachers will explore how tools like blogs, Twitter, and Facebook can be used to showcase our classrooms. 

 

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

This session will begin with a rationale and outline of the many benefits of using social media and web tools to showcase our classrooms and learners. Next, the unique features of Blogger, Facebook, and Twitter will be presented along with their applications for a K-12 setting.

 

The remainder of the presentation will focus on resources and practical recommendations for getting started. Samples of blogs, classroom Twitter accounts, and Facebook pages of current classrooms will be shared.  Also, tips for implementing these tools along with some considerations, such as district Acceptable Usage Policies (AUP) and other multimedia tools will be discussed.
