You and your companions have just survived a crash in a small plane. Both the pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash. It is mid-January, and you are in Northern Canada. The daily temperature is 25 below zero, and the night time temperature is 40 below zero. There is snow on the ground, and the countryside is wooded with several creeks, criss-crossing the area. The nearest town is 20 miles away. You are all dressed in city clothes appropriate for a business meeting. Your group of survivors managed to salvage the following items:

A ball of steel wool
A small ax
A loaded .45-caliber pistol
Can of CrIsco shortening
Newspapers (one per person)
Cigarette lighter (without fluid)
Extra shirt and pants for each survivor
20 x 20 ft. piece of heavy-duty canvas
A sectional air map made of plastic
A compass
Family-size chocolate bars (one per person)

Rank the item in order of importants and include why you choose each item.

1:a loaded .45-caliber pistol(to kill animals to eat for food)
2:a small ax (so we can cut down trees to make a fire and a shelter)
3:20x20 ft. piece of heavy duty canvas (so we could stay out of the wind and also use to make a shelter)
4:a compass (so we can tell what direction we are going)
5:extra shirt and pants for each survivor (so if we get wet or cold we could layer our clothes or we could have dry close to put on if they get wet)
6:family size chocolate bar (to eat until we get food from animals)
7:news paper (we can use it to build a fire)
8:a ball of steal wool(we could use to rub on a rock to get a spark and start a fire)
9:a sectional air map made of plastic (we could use it to wrap our clothes in it so we can keep them dry and away from moisture or we could use it to wrape our food in it so it will keep out the moisture)
10:a can of crisco shortening (to cook our food in)
11:cigeret lighter (we could use it for a signal if you shine it rite on the sun)

we would use the shirts and pants to stay warm and burn our old ones.
we would use the family sized chocolate bars for food.
we would use the ax to cut wood and build a fire and shelter.
we would use the loaded .45 caliber pistol to kill small animals if there are any for extra food.
we would use the newspaper to help start the fire.
we would use the cigarette lighter to start the fire, along with the crisco.
we would use the steel wool to skin the animls.
we would use the compass incase we try to escape.
we would use the 20x20 canvas for more shelter, or blankets.
we would use the air map for directions.
we would use the crisco to put in the lighter.
