Himalayan salt is a rock salt mined at khewra salt range, situated in the Punjab region of Pakistan.. It rests roughly around 310 kilometers from the Himalayas. Celtic salt is defined as naturally moist salt gathered from the Atlantic seawater off the coast of Brittany, France, collected using   the Celtic method of wooden rakes permitting no metal to touch the salt.

Celtic salt is packed with living enzymes so it is naturally aired and sun-dried in clay ponds and accumulated with wooden tools to preserve them. As it is unrefined, it holds all of the 84 advantageous live elements found in sea water, with no chemical and preservatives or superfluous additives.

Himalayan salt is one of the purest salts that is as old as the planet. It is pricey as it includes all the valuable live elements from the earth. They are rich in trace minerals (required in small quantities by our body) and consuming only a small amount of this prized salt daily is adequate to fulfill the human body’s requirements. A few of these minerals are sodium chloride, sulphate, calcium, potassium, and magnesium namely. When eating this salt, the body is obtaining less sodium intake per serving than other salts because it is less refined and the pieces are bigger. Therefore Himalayan salt has less sodium per serving since the crystals or flakes take up less area than the highly processed table salt variety. In addition to this, Himalayan salt’s unique cellular structure stores vibration energy. The minerals in this salt subsist in colloidal form, which means that they are small enough for the cells to effortlessly absorb.

An added significant aspect of both Himalayan and Celtic salts respectively is their flavor. Celtic salt is quite moist taking into consideration the water content in it. It is frequently less ground than regular refined salt, so if you sprinkle it on top of your food after it has been cooked, it may have a different mouth feel. It has a grayish color and minutely lower sodium than plain table salt. Himalayan salt has a distinctive pink color due to the presence of iron oxide which acts as an add-on to the presentation, after it is sprinkled on top of a cooked meal. Due to its purity, it has a different, stronger taste.

Celtic salt assists in alkalizing body and eliminating mucus build up. Pink Himalayan Salt contains traces of EXTREMELY important Iodine, whereas sea salt does not contain it. These minerals in Himalayan salt can aid the body balance PH level, normalize water content, remove toxins, help absorb nutrients, prevent muscle cramping and help maintain balance. It is also responsible for fighting sinus, promoting bone strength and supports libido.

Himalayan salt is obtained from Khewra, Pakistan where as Celtic salt is imported directly from Brittany, France.  There are several mines that supply Himalayan salt to the world. However the Celtic salt travels from Brittany to America, and then to the point of supply, thus of course incurring a lot of travel time.  This aspect is pertinent for the environmentally concerned.   It heavily adds to the cost for postage, freight cost and having the pallets brought over.

Himalayan and Celtic salts both have different characteristics attached to them. However as the Himalayan salt was subsequently shrouded in snow and ice for millennia, it was guarded from modern day pollution and preserved in an untouched, immaculate environment. It also has lower levels of heavy metals than Celtic sea salt. There were also traces of lead detected in Celtic salts making Himalayan salt a favorable preference.
