Why Do High School Transcripts Matter for Homeschoolers?

Schools are required by state and federal law to operate in a certain manner for the protection and benefit of the students.  This includes providing students and parents with progress reports, official report cards and transcripts for the high school program.  It is this basic information that also allows students to move from one school to another because of relocation and other life situations.

When you choose to homeschool the value of documentation increases because of the diversity of homeschools --- those who do so independently can at times face important issues for documentation of the student’s work. If you decide to do it on your own then it is critical that you research and make yourself aware of what the state requires to satisfy these requirements.  However, if you elect to partner with an accredited online Christian school then they take care of this for you.

One of the benefits to working with a private school homeschool program offered by accredited online Christian schools is their structure from providing established curriculum for each grade to tracking grades for report cards and transcripts.  The online portal is your access to assignments, tests, research resources and documentation which decreases the pressure on the parent and allows them to focus on teaching and/or supporting their child.  Why are transcripts important?  As a homeschooler there may not be a need to transfer to a different school because you have the flexibility to work with the same program no matter where you are at in the world.  However, once the student graduates and wants to apply for college, these documents become essential.  This information is what the all colleges and universities look at to consider the student’s qualifications and their ability to handle the workload for the courses they want to pursue.  It is also where accreditation becomes a significant factor because the university wants to know that the high school met nationally recognized standards to qualify the student.  When you operate under the umbrella of accredited online Christian schools they assume the responsibility of taking care of these details so that you don’t have to however it is up to the parent to verify that they have accreditations and they include this as part of their program.  During the search for the right school, review websites carefully for information and speak to the Admissions Specialist to get further details as necessary. Documentation reporting should start in Kindergarten (if that program is offered) and go all the way through high school where it becomes a required factor for moving forward after graduation.

Every parent wants to give their child the best education they can possibly receive so that they can be successful in their future endeavors.  This looks different for each student, but homeschooling is an option that is growing in popularity due to its many benefits for families, learning styles and importantly successful learning outcomes for the student.  If this is the path that you want to pursue then it is highly recommended to start looking at accredited online Christian schools where documentation is not only guaranteed but accomplished with the highest of standards for the benefit of your student.

The purpose of education is to give students the opportunity to graduate and enter the career of their choice but without the proper documentation the individual will find it difficult to gain entry into any college.
